News and Exemption Changes

Gerardo Feo, Town of Lloyd Assessor, would like to make all property owners aware that the time period for exemptions is approaching and that anyone who believes they may be eligible for an exemption should contact the Assessor’s Office. The filing deadline for all exemptions is March 1st of each year. STAR (School Tax Relief)

Basic STAR - The Assessor's Office would like to remind all property owners who have purchased a home in the town after 03/01/2015 or who have moved into newly constructed homes that they may be eligible for the Basic Star Credit Program (Check Program) on their new home if it is their primary residence. In order to receive the STAR Credit you must register with the NYS Department of Taxation and Finance at www.tax.ny.gov or call (518) 457-2036. Longtime homeowners may still be eligible to be in the Basic STAR Exemption Program and should contact the Assessor's Office with any questions.  

Enhanced STAR - Property owner who will be 65 on or before December 31 on any given year you are applying may be eligible for the Enhanced STAR. All first time Enhanced STAR Applications or Enhanced STAR Renewal Applications must be received by the Assessor’s Office by March 1st.. All applications must now include the additional Income Verification Suppliment Form 425-IVP. Veterans Exemption

Alternative Veterans (served during a period of war) and Cold War Veterans - If you are a Veteran who served during a period of war or during the Cold War Period, you may be eligible for an exemption. This exemption does not apply to currently active members of the military per NYS RPTL. Contact the Assessor’s Office at (845) 691-2197 with any additional questions. All applications must be received by the Assessor’s Office by March 1st of the year you are applying.

Service Connected Disability - A Qualifying Veteran who has a service-connected disability may qualify for an additional exemption. Please contact the Assessor's Office for more information. You will need your letter confirming your service-connected disability and the most recent service-connected disability rating letter.

Senior Citizens Exemption

Seniors must file a First-time Application or a Renewal Application linked below in order to receive the Senior Citizens Exemption. Income documentation must be provided. All applications must be received by the Assessor's Office by March 1st of the year you are applying. Please note that total income cannot exceed $37,399.99 to be eligible for the Senior Citizen Exemption in the Town of Lloyd.
