Tillson/Toc Realignment Project Update 8/22/2022

The Add Alternate funding has finally been approved for the Rte 44/55-Toc Drive-Tillson intersection portion of the Tillson Ave. contract.  That portion adds $4.5 million to the current contract of  $1.6 million for a total cost of the entire project to $6.1 million.

Our engineers will be contacting residents who will have their water/sewer services impacted by construction to request access to their basements to review actual locations and depths of each.   It is anticipated the gas services will be able to be moved quickly to those residences which will have new retaining walls installed.  Currently grade stakes have been placed approximately 6' behind the face of the proposed walls as what is known as geogrid mesh has to be installed when walls are constructed. The geogrid is placed between the layers of block and extends 6' back on the compacted backfill. As the wall goes up these layers of geogrid are placed in each layer.  This material helps restrict the walls from moving/leaning in the future.

The contractor will scheduling a day to do a tap on abandon water lines to make sure they are abandoned and not under pressure. We will let you know when that will be once the day is scheduled.

Meetings have been and are being held with Central Hudson to move forward quickly with the gas services relocation for those houses impacted by project excavation.  The Town of Lloyd Water and Sewer Departments are also on board for the coordination of the relocation/replacement of water and sewer lines where necessary.
