SUPERVISOR'S FIRST QUARTER UPDATE 2024

SUPERVISOR'S FIRST QUARTER UPDATE 2024

There were a number of events once the cold weather broke:

March 15th was the Seniors St Patrick’s Day Luncheon at the American Legion Hall. Great fun, food and festivities for our seniors.  March 16th, we held the 2nd Annual Clover Classic 5K at Tony Williams Field with over 240 runners!  On March 30th, we held Easter in the Hamlet and the Town Field was loaded with families for the egg hunt and other activities and we are so thankful for all of our volunteers.  They do a great job.

Ulster County 4-H Agricultural Literacy Week 2024 was held on March 20th.  I, along with Chief Janso, Councilmember Fraino, Deputy Clerks Maribel Gabiger and Jennifer West-Acosta, Ulster County Legislator Gina Hansut and other local volunteers, read to our 1st, 2nd and 3rd graders. Thank you to all the volunteers who contributed their time and voice to this great day.  At the March 20th Town Board meeting I presented Basil Metz with an Outstanding Citizen Award which was in recognition of his outstanding leadership and achievement in reaching the rank of Eagle Scout.

Other key projects/activities started or completed in the 1st quarter of 2024 were:

The new 2M Gallon Water Tank was put in Service

Finished the first phase (structure) of Construction of the Lewis C. Distasi Pavilion in the Town Field.

New Paltz Rescue Squad began servicing the town with ambulance service

Installed a new roof at the Highway Garage

Signed a contract with Baker and Sons Landscaping for work at the town Parks, etc.

Updated Local Parking Law to enable metered parking on Haviland Road and Town Parking Lots on Haviland Road.  Parking for town residents is free, will just need to register your plates with the Town Clerk.

The Town Board approved an updated Short Term Rental law based on experience since implements in October 2022.

Tillson/Toc – Work continued into the first week of February before winter shutdown.  Culvert wingwalls and drainage work completed.  Work is resuming the week of April 8th, focused on raising the intersection elevations and prep for final paving.  Expectations are to open the intersection and roads and finish the project by the end of May.
